First Post! Steffi's Veggie Kitchen

I LOVE to cook! I get excited trying to recreate an entree I’ve enjoyed at a restaurant. I revel in combining complementary and contrasting flavor profiles for a balanced plate. I find delight in plating up my dishes as if I were constructing a piece of art. I hang on the edge of my seat as I watch someone take their first bite and wait for their reaction.

Over the years I’ve had friends and family suggest starting something just like this but it was always put on the back burner (see what I did there?). At home and 4+ months into a pandemic, I’ve decided to ‘seize the quarantine!’ and give this blog a shot.

I’m a former carnivore, now full-time vegetarian & part-time vegan. That means most of my recipes focus on flavor first. One of my favorite things to do is to ‘veganize’ dishes from my pre-vegetarian days and test them on my carnivorous friends. These recipes are meant to be fun and adaptable so that everyone has a chance to enjoy.

Now speaking of recipes...you’ll notice something a little different from other recipe blogs: I don’t do exact measurements. Crazy, right? Blame it on my Puerto Rican Abuela (aka grandmother) who taught me how much adobo to use based on the lines on my hand. Don’t fret! Check out my post ‘A Pinch, A Dash & A Smidge’ to get you started. I promise you, it is easier than it sounds.

To my friends and family who have been asking me for recipes for years...you’re finally getting them! Thanks so much for visiting this page. I hope you enjoy my collection of recipes from #SteffisVeggieKitchen.
